Calculate Damper Parameters

Four context menu options are used to manipulate dampers inside rectangular and oval HVAC silencer inline devices. To activate the context menu, position the pointer over any property in the Silencer Parameters schema section of the DataGroup property panel, and in value pull down menu select one of the options.


Damper option menu

SettingDescription
CenterDampers Select this option to center dampers inside the device body by calculating the total thickness of dampers, the spaces between them, and subtracting the sum from the body width. The DataGroup property Damper|Side Space is modified.
EqualSpaces Select this option to equate spaces between dampers to the damper width. The damper side space is automatically set to a minimum distance.
Adjust Width Select this option to adjust overall width of area inside device filled with dampers.
NumberOfDampers Select this option to open the Calculate Damper Parameters dialog. Key in values for the desired damper properties and Calculate the remaining ones, followed by Apply to update the focused device.

Calculate Damper Parameters dialog.

  • Silencer Width — Sets the internal silencer width.
  • Damper Space — Sets the spacing between dampers.
  • Damper Width — Sets damper thickness.
  • Side Space — Sets the space between the device enclosure and silencer.
    Note: Side space field is disabled, and used for reference only. The value is taken from the active component.
  • No. Of Damper Blades — Sets number of dampers.
    Note: Limited by Auto Size property.
  • Calculate — Calculates the other damper parameters relative to the current entry.
  • Apply — Applies damper parameters to the active component being placed or modified.
